Golden Eagles Continue Play at Mercer Bears Classic

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss volleyball team returns to the court this weekend in Macon, Ga. to take part in the Mercer Bears Classic on Friday and Saturday.
"We've had a great week of practice and are ready to get after it on the court after a successful opening weekend," said head coach Jenny Hazelwood. "Our team was able to learn a lot about themselves in our first tournament of the season and we're excited to take what we learned and continue to improve as a team."
Southern Miss Schedule
Friday – 6 p.m. CT – at Mercer
Saturday – Noon CT – vs. Charleston Southern
Saturday – 3 p.m. CT – vs. Queens
Southern Miss Snippets
• Mia Wesley leads the Sun Belt and ranks fifth in the country in kills per set after the opening week of the season, as the Orem, Utah native collected 5.1 KPS at the Crimson Tide Invite.
• Junior setter Kenzie Smith recorded the first double-double of the season for the Black and Gold with 31 assists and 10 digs in the loss at Alabama.
• The Golden Eagles collected their 600th win in program history and the first of the Jenny Hazelwood era against UTSA in a three-set sweep to open the season.
• Nyanuer Bidet returned to the Southern Miss roster after a season away from the sport, and didn't miss a beat in her second match back against McNeese. The senior tallied seven kills on 13 attempts, to go along with seven blocks, with five of those coming in a big second set at the net for the Anchorage, Alaska product.
