Football Continues Preparations for Season Opener with Liberty

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss football team returned to practice Wednesday morning as they continue to get closer to its season opener this Saturday at home against Liberty.
Game time is 6 p.m., at M.M. Roberts Stadium and can be seen via ESPN+ as well as heard on one of the affiliates of the Southern Miss Sports Network presented by Learfield.
The team, which practiced in helmets and shorts, enjoyed a good mental day according to second-year coach Will Hall that included a heavy dose of special teams work during the session.
One thing Hall really liked during the practice was a hot morning – the second one in a row – after working under overcast skies and rain the previous week.
"It was really hot again (today), which was awesome because we really need that heat coming off of last week when we had all that cloud cover and rain," said Hall. "We were blessed to get the heat out there today to make sure we are ready for that (for Saturday)."
Just a few days out from the first game of the season, Hall said he has seen the program grow in the 20 months that they have been here and that they have done well academically as well as in the community but knows that there is one more thing the team must accomplish moving forward.
"We have to start winning on the field and that is going to come, and I certainly hope it comes sooner rather than later, but I am ready to see the product we got and how much we have grown on the field," said Hall.
