Southern Miss Announces 2022 Football Home Game Themes

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss Department of Athletics announced Friday its promotions for each of its six 2022 Golden Eagle football games.
The home schedule includes non-conference foes Liberty (Sept. 3) and Northwestern State (Sept 17), while also welcoming Arkansas State (Oct. 15), Louisiana (Oct. 27), Georgia State (Nov. 5) and South Alabama (Nov. 19) for the school's inaugural season in the Sun Belt Conference.
Here are the promotions for each home game:
Liberty (Sept. 3) – Gold Out
Fans are encouraged to wear GOLD for the home opener. The first 5,000 fans will receive gold thunder sticks. In addition, there will be a pregame flyover formed by United States Coast Guard aviation.
Northwestern State (Sept. 17) – All-South Marching Band and Stars of Honor Day
Along with its annual band day tradition welcoming bands from all over the state, the Stars of Honor program has partnered with Southern Miss Athletics to provide complimentary tickets to a Southern Miss sporting event. Kindergarten through 5th grade students were chosen to win the Stars of Honor award by elementary schools in the region who participated in the program. Schools select winners of the award for their hard work in the classroom, kindness to others, and commitment to leading healthy lifestyles. Additionally, the first 2,500 fans will also receive thunder sticks.
Arkansas State (Oct. 15) – Homecoming
The Golden Eagles welcome the Red Wolves for its 85th homecoming game. The first 5,000 fans will receive thunder sticks, while a pregame flyover formed by United States Coast Guard aviation will add to the game day atmosphere.
Louisiana (Thursday, Oct. 27) – Lights Out
All fans are encouraged to wear BLACK. The first 5,000 fans will receive thunder sticks.
Georgia State (Nov. 5) – Salute to Armed Forces
The school's annual military appreciation game that includes recognition of all the branches of the military will be recognized throughout the game and at halftime. A flyover in pregame formed by the Mississippi Army National Guard and the 1997 Conference USA championship team will also be honored on the 25th anniversary of their league title.
South Alabama (Nov. 19) – Senior Day
The Athletic Department will honor its 2022 senior class prior to the game.
Student promotions, more game day giveaways, and live musical acts continue to be booked for home games during the upcoming season at Spirit Park and they will be announced at a later time.
