HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Following his performance at the 2022 Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships, Southern Miss field athlete Corvell Todd has been the Male Co-Field Performer of the Meet after his gold medal performance in the high jump.
"I'm extremely proud of Corvell," head coach Jon Stuart said. "He's improved each meet during the season and really put it all together at the indoor championships. He has put himself in a great position to compete well at NCAAs next weekend."
Todd cleared 7'3.75" at the C-USA Indoor Championships to earn his second-straight indoor high jump title to secure his spot at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Mar. 12. For Southern Miss, it marked the fourth-straight title in the men's high jump, as Todd joined Eric Richards (2019 & 2020) as back-to-back champions.
For the Byhalia, Miss. native, the mark was a new personal best, the fourth-best mark in the country at the time and the second-best indoor mark in program history.
Todd was one of three members of the men's track and field team to capture gold at the Birmingham CrossPlex, joining Fred Moudani and DJ Butler, who won the shot put and 400m titles, while the women of Southern Miss track and field captured their second-straight C-USA Indoor Championship.
He will be the lone Golden Eagle to return to the CrossPlex next week, looking to build off a fifth-place finish a season ago at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Championships, where he cleared the bar at 7'3.0".
