Spring Football Practice Began Saturday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Year two of the Will Hall era officially got underway Saturday morning as Southern Miss opened spring football practice at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility.
The Golden Eagles will go through 15 practices over the next six weeks as the squad looks to its continued improvement as they head towards the 2022 season opener at home against Liberty. The first practice for Southern Miss was an NCAA-mandated helmets and shorts workout session.
"For us getting started today is big for the next step in this program," said Hall. "When you are playing football with no pads on, you can convince yourself of anything. Some of it might be true, and some might not be. It, though, is good to get out here and implement our language with so many newcomers. We are light years ahead of where we were last year with almost everybody back."
The mix of veterans and newcomers got quickly to work in the 2-hour, 15-minute session as the squad work through individual periods, special teams and some full team drills.
Hall's squad will return to the practice field Monday morning.
