Southern Miss opened day two of the Golden Eagle Invitational against the Houston Baptist Huskies. The Black & Gold utilized a three-run third inning and a strong performance in the circle from Morgan Leinstock to pick a 3-0 win to improve to 6-4 on the season.Â
Leinstock opened the contest with three scoreless innings, and the Golden Eagles rewarded the Scottsdale, Ariz. native with three runs in the bottom of the third. Brown and Tata Davis found themselves on base with a pair of singles, which forced a pitching change from Houston Baptist.

The Golden Eagles were able to put three on base in the fourth, but were unable to convert, as the lead remained 3-0. Leinstock continued to perform well in the circle, as the Golden Eagles held the lead into the top of the sixth.
Houston Baptist loaded the bases up in the top of the sixth with no outs, but strong pitching from Leinstock and solid defensive play got Southern Miss out of the jam still with the three score advantage.Â
