
Southern Miss Set to Celebrate Salute to Armed Forces This Saturday versus Georgia State

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss football game, Saturday, Nov. 5, versus Georgia State serves as the school's Salute to Armed Forces contest. Game time is set for 2 p.m., at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at M.M. Roberts Stadium.
There are many great initiatives accompanying this game including the Seats for Soldiers program where fans can purchase a $10 ticket by clicking here. Those $10 tickets will then be distributed to active or retired members of the military who plan to attend this Saturday's game. Southern Miss is set to distribute over 1,500 tickets for military families which were made available through the Seats for Soldiers program.
All active duty, veterans and retired military members can receive two complimentary tickets to the game. If you are an active-duty service member or veteran, you may show your ID to receive two complimentary tickets for the game. You may pick up your tickets at the Pat Ferlise Center on Thursday and Friday of this week, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Or on game day at the Southwest Ticket Box Office (located by Gate 3) beginning at 11:00 a.m.
The Eagle Walk, which occurs two hours prior to kickoff, and includes the entire football team, will be led by a Maxx Pro a wheeled mine resistant ambush protected (MRAP) armored military vehicle.
Just prior to the game, a flyover will be conducted from UH60 Blackhawk helicopters courtesy of the Mississippi Army National Guard's 185th Aviation Brigade. Additionally, a large US flag provided by Woodman Life will be unfurled with the help of Boy and Girl scout troops from across the state of Mississippi.
In addition, a pregame "bootline" will be formed for the football team to run through by the Camp Shelby Soldiers assigned to Joint Forces Headquarters along with other Mississippi Army National Guard units.
At halftime, The Pride of Mississippi will perform a military tribute honoring the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard. All Active-Duty military and Veterans are invited to participate.
