Megan Harris Named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS, La. --Â Southern Miss volleyball sophomore libero Megan Harris was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday morning.Â
Harris, the Sun Belt leader in digs per set (4.71) and total digs (340), tallied 33 total digs this weekend against Texas State. Harris posted a team-high 16 digs in Friday's match and posted another 17 on Saturday.Â
"Megan was all over the court against a powerful Texas State team," said head coach Jenny Hazelwood. "She has worked so hard and been so open to learning. We are just seeing the beginning of what Megan can really do, and that is exciting."
It's the second time Harris has been named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week after picking up her recognition first last month. The Nesbit, Miss. native is averaging a league-best 5.03 digs per set in conference matches.Â
Harris and the Golden Eagles return back to the Wellness Center this weekend to host Arkansas State on Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22. Friday's match is slated for a 6 p.m. start and Saturday is set for a 2 p.m. first serve.
