Second Day of Fall Camp in the Books with Saturday Practice

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss returned to the Joe P. Park Practice Facility, Saturday, to participate in its second football fall camp practice.
The morning workout allowed the squad the opportunity to beat a good bit of the heat again in which first-year coach Will Hall described as another good practice for his team.
The Golden Eagles finished their mandated NCAA regulation of helmets and shorts over the opening two days and the squad used the session to continue its work started yesterday by returning to high red zone situations, both offensively and defensively.
Hall is glad that the those mandated two-days are behind them and they can finally put some pads on when practice returns Sunday morning on campus.
"We thank the good Lord that we get to put pads on tomorrow and play real football," said Hall. "You can convince yourself of anything on these (first) two days. You can convince yourself that people can play and convince yourself that they can't play. What we are trying to do (during this time) is to make sure we are teaching concepts and getting people lined up. Because, at the end of the day, it is not football. It is as close to football as swimming is.
"We put pads on tomorrow and that is football. And we will get back to the basics and start to figure out who can really play and who can't."
The Golden Eagles will open their 105th season, Saturday, Sept. 4, at South Alabama.
Season tickets for the 2021 six-game home schedule can be purchased by going online at SouthernMissTickets.com, by calling 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or 601-266-5418, as well as emailing ticket.office@usm.edu.
