HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss men's and women's track and field teams were both recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), while a program record of eight student-athletes were awarded for their individual accomplishments in the classroom.
"I'm extremely proud of these student-athletes," head coach Jon Stuart said. "They are the epitome of what we try to build as a program here at Southern Miss."
For the Golden Eagle women, they have been named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team during each year of Stuart's tenure, and 12 consecutive years overall. The team finished with a 3.223 GPA overall, while student-athletes Trinity Benson, Patricia Johnson, Ashlee Osaji and Cassidy Teuscher were named All-Academic Athletes.
The men's team finished with a 3.01 GPA and are recognized as a UTFCCCA All-Academic Team for the first time under Stuart. DJ Butler, Dylan Evans, Elijah Miller and Corvell Todd received All-Academic Athletes honors.
"They have done an outstanding job in the classroom, while maintaining a rigorous workload on the track," Stuart concluded. "I can't say enough about the work they've done and the effort they have put in."
