HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss soccer incoming freshman Ember Temple (Meridian, Miss.-West Lauderdale) has been named to the United Coaches All-American team. Being one of 37 girls selected nationally, Temple was the only girl from the state of Mississippi to receive the accolade.
During her high school career, the Mississippi native tallied 112 goals, 62 assists, and 286 points. She has also garnered multiple "Player of the Game" and "Player of the Week" awards. In her final season as a Lady Knight, she recorded 39 goals and 29 assists.
"I'm really excited for Ember joining the Golden Eagles," said El-Zare. "She is an in-state talent that will bring her technical qualities and is comfortable under pressure. She is one of the players in our region that competed at the highest level. When we saw her play, we knew that she will be able to provide us with the balance we needed in our attack.
"Her understanding of flank play, especially in the final third is something we are excited about. The fact that she has gone through a season ending injury in her junior year and came back showing maturity and resiliency is incredible. This award at a national level confirms why we are excited about Ember. I'm extremely proud of her and can't wait to work with her soon."
When asked about her award, Temple stated, "Im very excited to come to Southern Miss. This award only makes me more confident because all of sudden I'm going from 0 to 100 and that boost really helps."
