Alyssa Davis and Destini Brown Named to the C-USA All-Conference First Team

Senior second baseman Alyssa Davis and senior center fielder Destini Brown earn All-Conference Honors for the first time in their Golden Eagle career.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – C-USA announced on Tuesday that Southern Miss senior second baseman Alyssa (Tata) Davis and senior center fielder Destini Brown were tabbed to the 2021 C-USA All-Conference First Team.
"Destini Brown and Tata Davis are the epitome of what Southern Miss Softball embodies," said head coach Brian Levin. "The way they live their everyday lives on and off the field is an example for all to follow. Commitment, effort, passion and leadership are just a few of the values they possess and pass on to teammates. We could not be more proud of them. They are special players, and even more so, incredible young women."
Davis, a native of Philadelphia, Miss., ranks first on the team in batting average at .327 and hit a squad second-best .328 in C-USA games.
The senior second baseman leads the C-USA in runs batted in with 36 on the season and leads the team with a .515 slugging percentage. She also ranks third in the conference with 85 total bases.
Davis has been a defensive standout recording a .970 overall fielding percentage and ranks fourth in the conference with 85 assists. She ahs been a four-year starter in the infield for the Golden Eagles.
Through the four-game conference series versus UTEP she went 9-17 batting .529 with four home runs and 10 RBIs. This season, Davis has collected a career-high 13 multi-hit games.
Brown leads the Conference USA in multiple facets this season. The senior leads in runs scored at 43 and ranks first in the C-USA with 33 walks.
This season Brown ranks 7 in the conference with a .447 on base percentage and batted .395 in league play with two doubles and two homers.
The McComb, Miss. native leads the team and is tied for fourth in the conference with three triples.
Brown had a career-best performance this year at the Mercer Bears Classic where she batted .417 and tallied three homers, two triples and five RBIs. The performance resulted in her being named the 2021 C-USA Hitter of the Week. Brown in her freshman season was named to the C-USA All-Freshman Team.
The two seniors led the Golden Eagles both on and off the field this season and each record All-Conference USA First Team honors for the first time in their Golden Eagle careers.
