Men’s 4x200 Relay Breaks School Record at Bulldog Relays

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Elijah Miller, DJ Butler, Trey Johnson and Cardet Bienvenue combined to break the previous school record of 1:24.62 by more than a second on Friday at the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays hosted by Mississippi State. The four Golden Eagles finished the race with a time of 1:23.27 to set the new program standard in the event.

"We had some great opening marks to start the outdoor season," head coach Jon Stuart. "Corvell started where he left out from the indoor season with a win, the men break our 4x200 relay record and Marquasha has a nice PR to get 2nd in the triple jump. We'll regroup and prepare for another great day tomorrow."

In their first outdoor meet in 699 days, the Golden Eagles made six trips to the podium, including four individuals and two relays.

Fresh off a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championship, Corvell Todd won the high jump, clearing 7'1.75" to capture his fifth event title in seven meets with the Black and Gold. All-American performer Eric Richards finished right behind Todd going over the bar at 6'10.25" in his long-awaited return to the track.

Marquasha Myers finished with a new PR in the triple jump with a mark of 41'1.75" to finish second and tie her for the second-best mark among Conference USA student-athletes in the young outdoor season.

The women's 4x200 team of Trinity Benson, Trinity Flagler, Savi'a Varnell and Ashlee Osaji ran a 1:37.79 to earn silver in the event.

In her outdoor debut, Isabella Simonelli finished third in the hammer throw with a toss of 187'1.1" to move her into third all-time in program history for the event.

The Golden Eagles return to the track tomorrow at 11:00 with the men's shot put.
