Southern Miss Softball Travels to South Alabama

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss softball team travels to Mobile, Ala., to battle the South Alabama Jaguars in a midweek contest, Wednesday, April 17. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (CT) at Jaguar Field.
The last week on the diamond
The last time the Golden Eagles (16-9) stepped on the diamond, they came away with a 7-1 victory over Mercer in the Mercer Bears Classic. The Golden Eagles performed flawlessly throughout the tournament claiming four wins and notching a tournament sweep.
Senior outfielder Destini Brown had an outstanding week recording three home runs, two triples and three stolen bases. The McComb, Miss. native recorded her first multiple home run game, and was named the C-USA Hitter of the Week.
Junior Kaylan Ladner paced the Golden Eagles from within the circle. Ladner (7-1) earned two wins on the week. In game three of the Mercer Bears Classic she tossed a complete game, shut out Western Carolina and guided Southern Miss to a 2-0 victory.
Breaking down the all-time record
South Alabama (13-8) leads the all-time record between the two schools 15-6-1. The Golden Eagles are 4-5-1 when facing the Jaguars in Hattiesburg, Miss., and 2-9 at Mobile.
The last meeting between the two
The Golden Eagles and the Jaguars last met April 3, 2019, in a midweek game in Mobile. The Golden Eagles won that game 2-0.
The opponent
Head Coach Becky Clark leads the South Alabama softball program. Clark has been the Jaguars' head coach ever since the program began in 2007.
Last week, South Alabama swept Appalachian State at home in a three-game series.
