Lady Eagles Welcome UTSA to Reed Green Coliseum

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's basketball team will look to stay hot against the UTSA Roadrunners this weekend at Reed Green Coliseum. Tip-off on Friday is schedule for 6 p.m. CT, while Saturday's game will begin at 4:00 p.m. CT.
"We're really excited to be back on the floor," head coach Joye Lee-McNelis said. "We built some confidence last week. It inspired us in practice and our effort has been tremendous all week. We've done a great job on focusing on the little things this week and we're ready to see the fruits of our labor come together."
Both games will air on ESPN+ with Lee Roberts and Larry Boyd on the call. The voice of the Lady Eagles, Jason Baker, will have the game on the Southern Miss Radio Network, broadcast on 92.7 the Score and presented by Learfield IMG College.
SCOUTING UTSA
• Head Coach Kristen Holt is in her 4th season at the helm of the Roadrunners.
• UTSA returns 10 players from a team that went 6-23 a season ago.
• The Roadrunners were picked to finish 13th in the conference by the league's coaches.
• Adryana Quezada leads UTSA in scoring, averaging 15.3 PPG so far this season.
• Against Sul Ross State, the Roadrunners broke the school records for fewest points allowed in a quarter (2) and in a half (5). UTSA also tied the record for fewest points allowed in a game with 37.

• Southern Miss has won the last seven in the series and is a perfect 7-0 at home against UTSA.
• In their last game, the Lady Eagles handed MTSU just the 15th loss inside the Murphy Center under head coach Rick Insell during C-USA play.
• Senior Jalise Smallwood has already surpassed her point total from a season ago and has improved her shooting percentage by 13%. The Tulsa, Okla. native had a career-high 16 points against MTSU on 1/16.
• Hometown product Melyia Grayson was once again named C-USA Freshman of the Week after her performance against MTSU. She is tops among C-USA freshman in scoring and is second among all players in FG% shooting at a 60.3-percent clip. The Hattiesburg, Miss. native is the first Lady Eagle to win the award twice since Caitlin Jenkins during the 2015-16 season.
