Golden Eagles Claim AVCA Team Academic Award

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss volleyball team earned an academic accolade from the American Volleyball Coaches Association for the second-straight year, as announced by the organization Monday.
The Golden Eagles posted a 3.638 cumulative GPA and also saw another outstanding individual academic honor this fall, as May graduate Ashley Chapman was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District member.
Established in the 1992-93 academic year, the award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
