NEW ORLEANS, La. -- It was a new challenge for the Golden Eagles after seven-straight home matches, but the New Orleans Privateers got the upper hand in a 6-1 decision on Saturday afternoon.
"This was our biggest road test of the season," head coach Zubin Engineer said. "We had been at home for a while and had back-to-back solid wins coming into today. We've got more growing to do and another road match Monday to prove."
The Golden Eagles (6-3) were also playing on the same courts as their last road contest, a 6-0 win over Prairie View to begin the season on Jan. 21.
Hsiang Yi Wang and Antoine Androine scored a smooth 6-3 win in No. 1 doubles, improving to 2-0 in their short time together. The point was decided by fractions in a 7-6 (9-7) defeat on No. 2.
Matthieu Peres tied Christopher Cahour with his team-best seventh win of the year as he took care of Johannes Klein, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Four of the Privateers' singles wins went to third sets, each by no more than 6-4 in the deciding one.
