Camron Harrell Named C-USA Special Teams Player of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss defensive back Camron Harrell (Bradley, Ill.) earned the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week honor, Monday, after helping lead the Golden Eagles to a 45-31 victory over Florida Atlantic in last Thursday night season finale.
Harrell, at 5-foot-10, 178 lbs., registered the team's lone kickoff return for a touchdown this season with a 100-yard return. It was the first for the school since DeMichael Harris returned a kickoff 100 yards last season at Louisiana Tech to open the game.
The kickoff return for touchdown pushed the Golden Eagle lead to double digits for the second time in the game as they took a 38-24 advantage in the third quarter as a result of the return.
The return marked the eighth kickoff 100-yard-or-more return in the school's history.
Harrell finished the game with three kick returns for 145 yards and added six tackles, one for loss, and two pass breakups in the contest.
This was the lone weekly award for the Golden Eagles this season and the first special teams' honor for the school since Zac Everett won it on Nov. 18 last season. Southern Miss won the special teams award four times a season ago.
