Southern Miss Signs Cara Atkinson to NLI

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- Southern Miss head volleyball coach Stephanie Radecki has announced the signing of middle-blocker Cara Atkinson to the program.

Atkinson (Gardendale, Ala.) comes from the Athens Renaissance School. As a senior, she produced 325 kills and a .596 hitting percentage as a senior to go with 195 aces and blocks (3.0 per set). She also competed for the Southern Performance Volleyball Academy on the club circuit.

"We are really excited to officially announce Cara as a future member of our volleyball program," Radecki said. "Cara has a huge ceiling athletically and a passion for the game. She is a strong student-athlete and will make a positive impact on our program."

Atkinson will become the second Alabama native on the roster, joining junior Kinsley Hanback.

Southern Miss' full spring schedule will be announced when it comes available. The Golden Eagles swept Louisiana Tech, 3-1 each match, on Oct. 24 in their only fall action.
