HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Although the regular season has been pushed to the spring, the Southern Miss volleyball team will get the opportunity to compete this fall with matches on Saturday, Oct. 24 against Louisiana Tech and UAB.
The Golden Eagles will face the Bulldogs at 11 a.m. and close the round-robin day against the Blazers at 6 p.m. The contests are closed to the public, but free live streaming will be available through CUSA.tv.
"We're really excited to have the opportunity to compete this fall," head coach Stephanie Radecki said. "We're grateful for our administration in allowing us to host these matches, as well as for UAB and LA Tech to travel here. With everything that's going on, it's hard to make those decisions, but this is a great opportunity for our team. They've trained and worked hard, and it gives us more opportunity to prepare for the spring."
Southern Miss closed its 2019 season, and the Reed Green Coliseum era, with a 3-1 win over LA Tech. The Golden Eagles welcome eight newcomers to their 2020-21 roster, including two seniors in defensive stalwart Madison Lawler and setter Piper Matsumoto. Southern Miss also brings back three of its top four kill performers, as well as its service-ace leaders (Lawler, Matsumoto and Kellie Garraway; 19 each).
