Southern Miss Softball Announces the Hiring of Devin Lowe as Assistant Coach

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss head softball coach Brian Levin has announced the hiring of Devin Lowe as an assistant coach for the program.

"The Golden Eagle softball program struck gold with Devin. She is a person of incredible character, and just the type of person we want on our staff to help mentor our student-athletes. Devin had tremendous success as a player on and off the field at South Alabama, leading her to being drafted into the National Pro Fastpitch league. Devin's previous experience allows her to relate to the rigors that being a Division I athlete endures. After spending some time with her, it was evident that her knowledge of the game is something that will be a benefit to the young ladies she will be coaching. We are excited to have Devin on staff and we look forward to the positive impact she will bring to the program."

Lowe begins her coaching career at Southern Miss after a highly decorated playing career at both the professional and collegiate levels. At Southern Miss, Lowe will primarily work with the Golden Eagles' pitching staff.

After being drafted first overall in the 2019 ASBA Draft, Lowe spent the summer of 2019 playing for the E1 Pro Ballers.

Prior to being drafted first overall in the 2019 ASBA Draft, Lowe was drafted 20^th overall in the 2018 NPF Draft by Cleveland Comets. During her time with the Comets, Lowe was coached by former University of Alabama All-American and current University of Texas at Arlington assistant softball coach Charlotte Morgan. Lowe racked up the most innings pitched by any NPF pitcher during the 2018 regular season.

Before enjoying success in the pro ranks, Lowe, formerly known by her maiden name Devin Brown, posted a storybook career at the University of South Alabama where she starred for the Jaguars from 2014-2018. Over the course of her four-year career, Lowe was tabbed a three-time All-Sun Belt First Team selection, a two-time First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference selection and a NFCA All-South Region Second Team selection. In addition, Lowe was named Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week 11 times, Louisville Slugger/NFCA Pitcher of the Week and she amassed a total of 932 strikeouts for her collegiate career.

Lowe saw success off the field as well, having been named to the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List twice and a two-time NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete selection.

Lowe's previous coaching experience includes, serving as an instructor for The Performance Lab in Mobile, Ala. and conducting private lessons and weekly pitching camps. Lowe also served as a camp instructor during her time at South Alabama and she served as a camp coordinator and head pitching instructor for the Cleveland Comets 2018 Summer Camp.

A native of Mobile, Ala., Lowe earned her Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the University of South Alabama in May of 2019. Lowe is also a 2014 graduate of Theodore High School (Theodore, Ala.)

Lowe is married to her husband, Billy, and the couple will reside in Hattiesburg.
