HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss head volleyball coach Stephanie Radecki has unveiled the team's 2019 schedule, which will also feature the inaugural contest at the team's new facility between Reed Green Coliseum and 4th Street (date to be announced).
"Our program is very excited for this fall indoor season," Radecki said. "There are so many things to look forward to. With the anticipated opening of our volleyball facility and many new faces, I feel this schedule will challenge our team but also prepare us to compete at the highest level."
Southern Miss begins its campaign at the University of Denver Invitational, playing one match on Friday, Aug. 30 and two more on Saturday. The Black and Gold will face Seattle, Denver and San Francisco.
Next up is the 12th-annual Southern Miss Volleyball Classic. There will be six overall contests (three each on Sept. 6 and 7) between Mississippi State, New Orleans and Arkansas State, with the Golden Eagles playing each of those teams once. A full slate will be released at another time.
Following a Tuesday, Sept. 10 battle at UL Lafayette, Southern Miss concludes tournament play at the Georgia Southern Invitational (Sept. 13-14), where it will face Winthrop, the host Eagles and UNC Asheville.
The tough slate continues Wednesday, Sept. 18 and Friday, Sept. 20 at Tulane and LSU, respectively, before beginning C-USA play Sept. 27-29 at Marshall and WKU.
From that point on, Southern Miss will have 10 more home contests, including seven against C-USA foes. Alabama State (Oct. 2), South Alabama (Oct. 8) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Nov. 1) all come in for non-conference play. The regular-season finale and Senior Day will be against Louisiana Tech on Saturday, Nov. 16, with Rice hosting the league championships Nov. 22-24.
Southern Miss last year earned its sixth-straight winning season, including defeating perennial league contender WKU in the C-USA Quarterfinals. Season ticket packages are on sale for adults ($50), faculty/staff, seniors and military personnel ($40) as well as youth ($30).
