Trey Johnson Takes U.S. U20 Silver Medal in 400m

MIRAMAR, Fla. – Southern Miss Track & Field's Trey Johnson finished a great weekend at the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships with placing second and earning silver in the 400m.
Freshman sprinter Trey Johnson left the meet with a second-place finish after running a 46.41 in the finals on Sunday. He ran against seven other runners who represented Houston, Baylor, Middle Tennessee, Oklahoma State and Northwest Missouri State.
In the prelims, the freshman finished first in his heat in 46.46, and was the fastest qualifier to the men's 400m finals. In his heat, he competed against four others from Middle Tennessee, Marietta Track Club and two who were competing unattached.
With his silver medal-race in the finals, Johnson punched his ticket to the Pan American U20 Championships in July. The Championships will be held July 18-21 in San Jose, Costa Rica.
