West and Richards Tabbed Track and Field Athletes of Week for C-USA

The Conference announced the weekly awards on Tuesday.

DALLAS, Texas – McKinely West and Eric Richards earned weekly accolades for their respective performances in Auburn's Tiger Track Classic, Conference USA announced Tuesday.

McKinely West, a senior from Camilla, Ga., was named Male Track Athlete of the Week after he won both the 100m and 200m at Auburn. West finished the 100m in 10.33, now the No. 7 time in Southern Miss history. That time also leads the Conference and is 30th in the nation. In the 200m, he finished in 20.72, now the No. 5 all-time for Southern Miss and ties for first in C-USA and is 17th in the nation.

Eric "EJ" Richards jumped to a height of 7'01.50" (2.17m) to be named Male Field Athlete of the Week. The junior of Utica, Miss. is now tied for the third-best for Southern Miss with Marcus Norwood from 2012. EJ now leads the Conference in the high jump and is 13th in the country.
