HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss men's tennis team has embarked to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for Friday's Conference USA opening-round matchup against No. 2-seed Old Dominion. First serve is set for 2 p.m. CT.
The Golden Eagles (8-8) have won their tournament debut back-to-back seasons, knocking off Charlotte and Florida Atlantic in the process. They are looking to defeat the Monarchs after they emerged victorious in the previous two matchups, both in C-USA Championship play.
The winner of Friday's matchup will play either UAB or Middle Tennessee at 12 p.m. Saturday in the semifinals.
Jorman Reyes has been the team's top performer throughout the season, boasting 9-3 and 6-5 singles and doubles records, respectively. His 63 singles wins are No. 10 in school history.
Weather has played a considerable factor throughout the season so far, canceling a handful of matches that includes the final Sunday tilt (April 7) against UAB in the C-USA Showcase (hosted by Rice). This year's team has been tested in road and neutral contests from Houston to Tennessee with just five home matches overall.
