Ashley Chapman Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Volleyball Team

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss volleyball senior outside hitter Ashley Chapman earned CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 honors in a release today. The award is given annually to student-athletes who excel on the court and in the classroom.
An Elementary Education major, Chapman has achieved a 3.97 GPA in the classroom. On the court, Chapman seamlessly made the transition from defensive specialist to outside hitter prior to her senior season. Through 28 matches, the Mobile, Ala. native has tallied 135 kills, good for third-most on the team. Chapman's defensive instincts have also led to her posting 224 digs to go along with four double-doubles.
Chapman has been a member of SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) since her freshman year and has garnered President List honors every semester of her undergrad career. She has also been awarded the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal each she has been a member of the volleyball team.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America program recognizes student-athletes in four divisions — NCAA DI, NCAA DII, NCAA DIII and NAIA.
CoSIDA Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
