Emma Kate Holdbrooks Earns All-Academic Honor From C-USA

Holdbrooks excels in the classroom and on the course.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss cross country runner Emma Kate Holdbrooks earned herself a spot on the All-Academic Team for Conference USA, announced Thursday.

Holdbrooks, a redshirt junior, is an english literature major from Winfield, Ala. She is a two-time Commissioner's Academic Medal recipient, and this is her first time being named to the All-Academic Team. She holds a 3.970 GPA.

Holdbrooks has run to two new personal bests this season in both the 5k and the 6k. She ran to a new personal best in the 5k on Oct. 4 at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational where she helped her team to a sixth-place finish with her time of 17:44.94, finishing in 27th place. On Oct. 18, she ran to a new 6k personal best at the Blazer Classic with a time of 21:24.24, doing her part to make sure the team finished in second place with her 15th place finish.

Holdbrooks will be running this weekend in the Conference USA Cross Country Championships held by WKU in Bowling Green, Ky.
