HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's volleyball team is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a 'Serve Up a Cure' match on Nov. 14 when the Golden Eagles host FIU at 6 p.m.
Â
Quotable from Associate Head Coach Jennifer McCall
"The 'Serve Up A Cure' match is an event that raises money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. LLS holds a special place in the heart of our coaching staff. This is due to the fact that we lost an amazing young woman, Caroline Neisler, who played volleyball for us for three years at the University of North Alabama. She was treated in Birmingham, Ala., and unfortunately lost her battle with leukemia shortly after her diagnosis. We honor her fight, her strength, and her spirit with this event. We have worked with the Birmingham, Ala., chapter of LLS in the past and wanted to bring our 'Serve Up A Cure' event to Southern Miss volleyball."
Â
Donations can be made throughout the season at the following LINK. Following the game, orange game-worn jerseys, as well as sponsor baskets, will be auctioned off as part of a silent auction. All donations will go to the Birmingham Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Â
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. LLS aids in the funding of lifesaving blood cancer research around the world. Since 1949, LLS has invested nearly $1.3 billion into research efforts while providing hope for the future.
Â
The Southern Miss volleyball program is excited to join the efforts in fighting for a cure and the future of so many individuals affected by this diagnosis.
