Softball Set to Host Northeast Mississippi CC in a Doubleheader on Sunday Afternoon

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss softball team will play host to Northeast Mississippi CC on Sunday afternoon (October 13) as part of its fall season. The Golden Eagles and the Tigers will square off in a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m. (CT) at the Southern Miss Softball Complex.

The Last Time Out
The last time that Southern Miss took the field, they captured a 7-5 victory over Co-Lin on Friday night (October 11) in Hattiesburg.

While many players contributed to the Golden Eagles win, it was freshman catcher Hannah Borden who provided the biggest boost of offense, belting a go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning, putting Southern Miss on top, 7-4.

Co-Lin would go on to score one run in the top of the ninth inning, but quality pitching and defense by Southern Miss helped seal the deal in the final frames.

The Opponent
Northeast Mississippi is led by Jody Long who has been the head coach of the Tigers' softball program since 2006.

Northeast Mississippi finished the 2019 season with an overall record of 36-15 and a record of 20-8 in MACJC play. The Tigers also earned a berth in the MACJC Tournament.

Admission to Sunday's doubleheader is FREE! Gates will open at 1:00 p.m. (CT). The doubleheader will consist of two seven-inning contests.
