Southern Miss Goes Through Packed Saturday Schedule

The Southern Miss football team ventured through probably its longest day of fall practice, Saturday, as they made appearances all over campus.
The Golden Eagles started the day with their first scrimmage of the summer at The Rock and junior college transfer, quarterback Jack Abraham, tossed for 110 yards on 10-of-19 attempts with a 9-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Quez Watkins for good measure. Watkins caught a team-high six passes for 81 yards.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Marcelo Rodriguez added 7-of-12 passing for 48 yards, while freshman Tate Whatley threw for 41 yards on 4-of-7 passes with a 12-yard touchdown toss.
Senior T'Rod Daniels collected 36 yard on nine carries in the scrimmage, while redshirt Steven Anderson put together a scrimmage-high 44 yards on 12 rushes. Freshman Trivenskey Mosley added two five-yard rushing scores in the scrimmage, finishing with 26 yards on 10 carries.
"We had a good a scrimmage this morning and it was our first one (of fall camp)," said Southern Miss third-year coach Jay Hopson. "I felt like we saw a lot of good things out there today."
Following the scrimmage, the Golden Eagle players and staff participated in their annual media day festivities as media from around the state talked with the team about the upcoming.
The squad then attended the 23rd annual Eagle Fanfare at the Thad Cochran Center on campus, before returning to Carlisle-Faulkner Field at M.M. Roberts Stadium to take the 2018 team photo and position group photos.
"We are excited for Eagle Fanfare to see all of our fans here today as it is an exciting time (on our campus," said Hopson in the media day session talking about Eagle Fanfare.
The team was scheduled to have dinner and go through Saturday evening meetings to complete their day's activities, before taking Sunday off from practice.
The Golden Eagles return to the practice fields on Monday.
