HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss Lady Eagle head coach Joye Lee-McNelis has announced that Patosha Jeffery has joined her staff as an assistant coach.
"I'm extremely excited to be joining Coach McNelis, Coach Hill, Coach Pittman, the support staff and the awesome young ladies at the University of Southern Mississippi," Jeffery said.
Jeffery, who competed in two NCAA Tournaments with the Tigers (1996-97), is the founder of a girls' basketball performance development company called Patosha Jeffery Basketball. The company helps players understand basketball so they can play their best and eventually play college basketball. She is also the founder of Memphis Girls Basketball, a website for Memphis girls' basketball to be seen like unsigned players, recruits, and prospects. Patosha Jeffery has written four books for female basketball players: Girls Basketball Beginner's Guide, 101 Girls Basketball Motivational Quotes, How to Increase Your Confidence in Girls Basketball, and How to Become a Pure Shooter.
"We're excited to have Patosha join our staff," McNelis said."I had the privilege to recruit and coach her at Memphis. The one thing I can say about her is that she is truly passionate about making a difference in young people's lives. I say that because ever since she played at Memphis in the 90s, her ultimate goal was to impact the city and make a difference in developing the game.
"She has done that for over 20 years, running camps and fall leagues and different kinds of recruiting events. I know that by bringing her here, that same passion she had in Memphis, she brings that to our program. She has lots of experience through personal training and her in-depth experience will add to our staff as well."
