Softball Travels to Charlotte for Final Regular Season Series

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss softball team hits the road for one final regular season series in Charlotte against the 49ers. The teams will meet in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon CT with the second following, then the single game on Sunday set for a noon start as well.

The Golden Eagles are 19-33, 8-13 in C-USA while Charlotte is 15-32 and 6-15 in C-USA.
Senior Ciarra Cherry continues to lead the attack for the Golden Eagles with a .336 batting average and a .492 slugging percentage. Cherry currently has 43 hits and 23 runs just behind freshman Destini Brown, who has 45 hits and 28 runs. Another freshman, Karley Nichols, is batting above a .300 with a .316.
In the circle, Kim Crowson has the leading ERA with a 2.94 in her 32 appearances and 22 starts. The senior is second on the team in innings pitched with 114.1 and has 48 strikeouts. Samantha Robles, who has 30 appearances and 21 starts leads the team in innings pitched with 135 and 84 strikeouts.
Series Record
Southern Miss leads the record 16-4 with the last meeting coming last year in Hattiesburg, the Golden Eagles took the series 2-1. The squad is 6-2 on the road and looking to extend that.
Scouting the Opponent
The 49ers are led offensively by Haley Pace and Bailey Rhoney. Rhoney sports the highest batting average with a .360 but Pace leads the teams in hits (54) and RBI (34). The senior has a .579 slugging percentage and is 8-9 on stolen bases for an on-base percentage of .386.
In the circle Charlotte is led by Haley Wiseman who has 30 starts in 31 appearances and 17 complete games. Wiseman has 178 strikeouts to her name in 180.2 innings pitched. Alison Green follows her with 20 appearances in the circle and 59.2 inning pitched but with just 26 strikeouts.
