Men's Tennis Go 2-0 At C-USA Showcase

SAN ANTONIO, Texas. - Southern Miss Men's Tennis secured two wins on the first day of the Conference USA Showcase against UTSA and Rice.
Southern Miss blanked UTSA 4-0 to begin the tournament. Courts 1 and 2 won the first point of the match for Southern Miss in doubles play at the C-USA Showcase. Daniel Merker and Jorman Reyes won their seventh match of the season with a 6-3 win on court 1. Chung Han Tsai and Wen-Po Tseng are now 12-1 on the season at No. 2 in doubles with Saturday's 6-2 win.
Jorman Reyes improved to 13-2 on the season after a 6-2, 6-0 win on court 6. Reyes is now 4-0 on court 6 in his junior campaign.
Ronit Bisht returned to singles play at No. 2 and won his ninth match of the season and sits on a three-match win streak.
Merker and Reyes won their second doubles match of the day at No. 1 with a 6-2 finish. Tom Cecchetto and Mieszko Kwasniewski won their 10th doubles match of the year.
Reyes now has a three-match win streak with his second win on court 6 of the day. His 6-1, 6-2 finish gave Southern Miss the early 2-0 lead.
Tseng's second win of the day improves him to 13-0 on the season and is now tied for the longest win streak in Southern Miss history.
Rice cut the lead to 3-2 after wins on courts 1 and 4. Bisht won the match for the Golden Eagles at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-3 finish.
Southern Miss plays UAB tomorrow to end the showcase.
