HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's and women's track and field teams are set to host the annual Southern Miss Invitational on Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31.
Friday's field events are slated to start at 3:30pm with the women's triple jump followed by the men and concludes with the women's javelin. Saturday begins at 11:30am with the women's high jump while the running events will begin at noon with the women's 5000m.
"We are always excited to compete at home in front of family and friends, said head coach Jon Stuart. "The weather is going to be great and there will be excellent competition."
Teams in attendance include, Nicholls State, Southeastern Louisiana, Mississippi Valley State, Southern-New Orleans, Meridian, William Carey and Dillard.
This will mark the first home meet for several Golden Eagles including C-USA Female Field Athlete of the Week Callie Jones. The freshman helped the women seal the FSU Relays meet victory this past weekend with a school record-breaking javelin toss.
Last year at the Southern Miss Invitational, the Golden Eagles broke a school record, the women's 1500m, and had 13 event winners scattered throughout the events.
