HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Not only was the Southern Miss season-opening baseball series successful on the field, it also resonated in the stands as well.
The Golden Eagles drew a school-record 14,906 for the three-game weekend series with Mississippi State and including individual day attendances that ranked as the seventh (4,988 – 2/17), eighth (4,970 – 2/18) and 10th (4,948 – 2/16) largest crowds in this history of Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.
The series outdrew its previous high of 12,623 against then No. 7 Rice on March 23-25, 2007.
Southern Miss, which also set a school-mark this season for season tickets sold with over 1,700, still has tickets available for its final 24 home games of the regular season, either on a season or single-game basis.
Fans looking to purchase tickets to The Pete this spring can go online at SouthernMissTickets.com, as well as call 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or go by the Pat Ferlise Center weekdays from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m.
The baseball team returns home Friday, March 9, when they entertain Georgia Southern.
