HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss senior Kylie Grandy has been named a Division I American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American Honorable Mention honoree. Grandy is the sixth Golden Eagle in program history to be tabbed as an AVCA All-American, joining Ashley Mell (Two) and Kelsea Seymour (Three).
Grandy ended her Southern Miss career with the second-most kills in program history. Her 1,572 kills were 59 shy of Stephany Purdue's program record. The Rolesville, N.C., native smacked a senior-record 530 kills this season at a .217 hitting clip. Grandy also became one of just a few Golden Eagles to reach 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.
Grandy had a career game against C-USA Champion Rice after putting up 28 kills, 15 digs, two blocks and two service aces. Grandy also recorded at least 20 kills in 11 matches. The performance against Rice earned her C-USA Offensive Player of the Week Honors.
Grandy's selection comes on the heels of her All-Conference USA First Team and AVCA Southwest Honorable Mention honors. Grandy will now shift gears to the Golden Eagle Beach Volleyball team for the next two seasons.
