Jack Abraham Off to Great Start for Golden Eagles

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss sophomore quarterback Jack Abraham completes passes and does so at a high rate.
After four games, the Golden Eagle quarterback shows a 70.9 completion percentage on his throws (107-for-151). If he keeps up this pace, the first-year signal caller sets a single-season school mark, surpassing Austin Davis' 69.2 percent (108-of-156) his sophomore campaign in which he only played in five games.
That completion success leads to other outstanding numbers produced by the Oxford, Miss., native and junior college transfer from Northwest Community College.
Among the top quarterbacks nationally in the FBS, Abraham ranks nationally in the Top 20 in completions per game (26.75), eight in completion percentage, ninth in passing yards per game (315.8) and No. 15 in total offense (304.8).
As a team, the Golden Eagles hold a No. 15 national ranking in passing offense at 319.0 per contest.
Abraham stands as the fifth Golden Eagle quarterback to start in the season opener since 2012 and responded with four touchdown passes, including three to fellow sophomore Quez Watkins, against Jackson State along with tying for the fifth most completions in a contest with 31.
His top passing game through the first four games has come in his third career game versus Rice in which he tossed for 428 yards on 25-of-34 passing with four touchdowns and one interception. The 400-yard passing game stands as one of only six in school history and the fourth-best overall in school history.
The Golden Eagles are off this week, but return to action Saturday, Oct. 13, when they travel to North Texas for a huge Conference USA West Division contest. Following that game, Southern Miss returns to M.M. Roberts Stadium for homecoming, Saturday, Oct. 20, versus UTSA. Tickets for that game can be purchased by going online at SouthernMissTickets.com, by calling 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or visiting the Pat Ferlise Ticket Office weekdays from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
