Golden Eagles finish first day of Men's ITA Southern Regional

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Tom Cecchetto was dynamite on his first big stage for Southern Miss, winning both his singles matches to reach the final qualifying round.Â
Cecchetto and Reyes continued their torrid starts with wins in the first round, as Cecchetto rebounded from a 6-1 loss to win his next to 6-2 and 7-5. He will now face top-seeded Kario Kranic of Ole Miss at 11 a.m. Friday.
Southern Miss went 2-4 in the first round, but also went 2-2 in the consolation.
Friday's schedule includes the Qualifying Singles Consolation (TBD at 9 a.m. CT indoors), Final Round Qualifying Singles (Eight matches at 11 a.m.) and First Round Main Doubles (3 matches at 4 p.m.).
