HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- It's back to Reed Green Coliseum on Tuesday for the Southern Miss volleyball team, where it will host ULM at 6 p.m.
Tuesday's promotions also include $2 Tuesday, with that price holding true for tickets, hot dogs, popcorn and drinks.
The Golden Eagles are 33-6 at home dating back to the start of the 2014 season and have swept ULM in all five head-to-head meetings since 1993. Last year's meeting saw Southern Miss win 25-16, 25-18, 25-13, with nine points coming off aces. The Warhawks were also held to an .043 hitting percentage.
Chandler Marshall earlier on Monday was named the C-USA Freshman of the Week for the first time of her career. The Houston, Texas, native continued to be a double-digit kill contributor to the Golden Eagle cause (53 kills in four matches) en route to earning All-Tournament honors. Only once all season has she been held below 10 in that department. Her 15 kills in the sweep of Alabama were one off two previous career-highs that were both accomplished in five-setters.
Southern Miss last week knocked off UL Lafayette in a sweep before heading to the Jaguar Invitational in Mobile, Ala., where it defeated McNeese State in four sets, swept Alabama, and fell to host South Alabama in five on Saturday night. The Black and Gold have not lost back-to-back matches since Oct. 29-30, 2015 at Rice and North Texas.
The Golden Eagles rank second in the league for hitting percentage with a .275 mark. A lot of the credit goes to setter Sarah Bell, whose 356 assists lead the nation.
The Warhawks are searching for their first win of the 2017 season. Six of their seven matches have come in tournaments in Fayetteville, Ark., and Chattanooga, Tenn.
