Getting to Know the 2017-18 Lady Eagles: Kennedy Gavin

HATTIESBURG, Miss â€" Freshman Kennedy Gavin comes to Southern Miss from Petal, Miss. Her high school gym is less than 10 miles from Reed Green Coliseum.
"I decided to come to Southern Miss because they were not only going to make me a better basketball player, but the coaching staff was going to make me a better person," Gavin said.
Gavin had a lot of connections to the Lady Eagles before committing to play for them. Assistant Coach Lauren Pittman coached Gavin at Petal High school during her freshman through junior years and Gavin was high school teammates with Hanah Lott and played on the same AAU team as Allie Kennedy.
"Coach Pittman and Hanah had a huge part of me being here," Gavin said. "We had a good chemistry in high school so I felt like we could make things happen when I came here."
At Petal High School, Gavin averaged 13.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.
