HATTIESBURG, Miss â€" Amber Landing might be new on the court to Southern Miss fans, but the 6-foot-4 center has been with the team for over a year. The Sharon, Miss. native sat out last year due to NCAA rules after transferring from Little Rock.
Landing said that Lady Eagle fans need to look forward to her blocking shots this season.
"It's been good," Landing said. "I've been getting used to the playing style, speed and being mentally tough. They're going to see a lot of blocked shots, hopefully."
In the past year she's gotten a lot stronger and knows her effort will pay off.
"I spent a lot of time with our training staff," Landing said. "And all of my numbers in the weight room have improved."
Coming from Madison-Ridgeland Academy, Landing won a state championships her senior year and was named All-Conference and All-State. At Little Rock, Landing made eight appearances for the Trojans her freshman year. She pulled down six rebounds against South Alabama and had two blocked shots against Tulsa.
