Southern Miss Volleyball: By the Numbers

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Two days remain before the Golden Eagle volleyball team takes the floor in the 10th-annual Southern Miss Invitational. We take a look at the facts and figures of one of the Conference USA's most consistent and successful programs prior to its first serve.
13: Number of service aces the squad had in a sweep of North Texas on Oct. 30, the most since 2006 versus Troy. Southern Miss did not trail till the third set and hit .700 as a team in the second.
28: Percentage points that Southern Miss cut down in service errors received from 2015-16.
2,637: Career assists for junior setter Sarah Bell, already ranking No. 7 in school history.
11.47: Assist/set average for Bell last season, which ranked No. 10 nationally.
8: Kills in as many attempts for Bell in a sweep of UAB on Nov. 4.
.641: Winning percentage for head coach Amanda Berkley in her four years at the helm, the highest for any coach in program history.
6: Consecutive wins the team had to end the 2016 regular season. It was the first time the Golden Eagles won that many consecutive conference matches since accomplishing the feat twice in 2009.
64: Hitting percentage improvement (in points) for junior Kylie Grandy as a sophomore last season. She now has 653 career kills, ranking in the top-10 for all-time Southern Miss freshman and sophomore classes.
0.43: Service ace/set average for Grandy last season, which led C-USA. Her overall tally of 47 was No. 25 nationally.
4.29: Digs/set average in conference play for senior libero Natalie Druhan last season, which ranked fifth. She averaged 1.16 overall in her first two years combined.
14.92: Overall kills/set average for Southern Miss, best in C-USA and No. 16 in nationally.
.093: Hitting percentage that Southern Miss held Charlotte to in a sweep on Oct. 28. It was the best-such defensive performance in C-USA play since holding FAU to .053 in Nov. 2014.
55: Points the team improved in hitting percentage from 2015-16.
23: Service aces that head coach Amanda Berkley had as a senior in 2007 at Wisconsin. That mark tied for second on the team, and the Badgers finished the season ranked No. 14 nationally. Southern Miss also visits Berkley's alma mater Sept. 15-16 to take on Wisconsin and Marquette.
1: Number of Mississippi natives on the roster (Breleigh Favre, freshman).
The Golden Eagles' Friday action includes matches with Nicholls (2 p.m.) and Miami (7 p.m.), followed by Saturday battles against Little Rock (12 p.m.) and Jackson State (5 p.m.). Tickets can be purchased here.
