Dylan Burdeaux Named C-USA Hitter of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss senior first baseman Dylan Burdeaux (West Monroe, La.) earned the final Conference USA Hitter of the Week in an announcement Sunday by the league office.
Burdeaux went 11-for-17 last week for a .647 batting average with seven runs, three doubles, two home runs, six RBI to go along with five walks and four stolen bases as the Golden Eagles went 4-0 during the week. His on base percentage over those four games was .727 and his slugging percentage was 1.176.
Burdeaux, a Dick Howser Award semifinalist, has now hit safely in the last 11 games and 31 of his last 33 contests. The nation's leader in hits with 97, he went 8-for-13 in the UTSA series including a home run in each of his last two games.
Over the weekend, Burdeaux moved into a pair of single-season school top 10 categories including at bats (8th/261) and hits (7th/97). In his career, he ranks in the Southern Miss top 10 in at bats (3rd/918), hits (4th/293), runs (T8th/175), singles (4th/205), doubles (T6th/55), total bases (T6th/443) and stolen bases (8th/42).
This is the first weekly award for Burdeaux in his career and the fourth Hitter of the Week for the team.
Florida Atlantic junior left-hander Jake Miednik won the Pitcher of the Week award.
The 2017 C-USA regular-season champions return to action in the opening game at The First, A National Banking Association 2017 C-USA Championship at MGM Park in Biloxi, Miss., Wednesday, May 24, at 4 p.m., against No. 8 seed UTSA.
The Golden Eagles enter the tournament with a 44-12 overall record and won the league crown by five games with a C-USA tying highest number of victories with 25.
