Maffo Named Female Field Athlete of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Following a record breaking meet, Golden Eagle Nadia Maffo, was named this week's Conference USA Female Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The freshman finished first for Southern Miss in the women's hammer throw at the Southern Miss Open meet with a school record toss of 62.94m (203' 6") in a loaded field. Included were throwers from South Alabama, UAB, UL-Monroe, New Orleans. That mark is good for first in C-USA, 12th regionally and 21st in the country.
Tuesday's honor marks Maffo's second outdoor weekly award this season.
