Softball Ends Regular Season on the Road

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss softball team is set to participate in the final two games of the regular season. Tuesday, May 2, the Golden Eagles travel to Hammond, La. to take on Southeastern Louisiana at 5 pm. Wednesday, May 3, they hit the road to Oxford, Miss. to take on Ole Miss at 6 pm.
Tuesday’s game is a makeup of a game that was originally scheduled for March 7 but was postponed due to rain.
Southern Miss enters the week with a 26-26 overall record. The Golden Eagles closed out this weekend 2-1 against C-USA opponent Charlotte.
Live stats and in-game tweets (@SouthernMissSB) will be available throughout the week. The Ole Miss contest will be televised on SEC Network. Josh West will also be on the road broadcasting the games on 1400 AM The Score to the local Hattiesburg area.
Scouting Southeastern Louisiana
Southeastern (26-25) enters the match up on a four-game winning streak after sweeping Sam Houston State this past weekend.
Kinsey Nichols leads the way offensively for the Lions. The junior has a team-high .414 batting average with 31 runs, 41 hits, six doubles, a triple and 21 RBI. She also leads the squad with a .512 on-base percentage.
Lacey Hill is there number one on the pitching staff with a 3.07 ERA. The pitcher from Kilbourne, La. has a 9-8 record and has recorded 54 strikeouts in 105 innings of work.
Scouting No. 20 Ole Miss
Ole Miss took the SEC series this past weekend against Alabama winning games one and three. The Rebels also played Jacksonville State in a midweek match-up and took the win, 2-1, in Oxford.
Elantra Cox leads the Rebels with a .424 batting average, 41 runs and 73 hits. The junior has 23 stolen bases, slugs .483 and has a .462 on-base percentage.
Kaitlyn Lee controls the pitching with a 2.02 ERA and 15-9 record. The junior has tossed 17 complete games, tallied 84 strikeouts and six shutouts in 176 1/3 innings pitched.
