Maffo Lands Female Field Athlete of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Following a record breaking meet, Golden Eagle Nadia Maffo, was named this week's Conference USA Female Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The freshman finished first for Southern Miss in the women's hammer throw at the LSU Alumni Gold meet with a school record toss of 60.90m (199' 10") in a loaded field. Included were throwers from LSU, Sam Houston, LA Tech and Clemson. That mark is good for first in C-USA, 19th regionally and 37th in the country.
Tuesday's honor marks Maffo's first outdoor weekly award this season.
