Southern Miss Softball Set to Host Midweek Game

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss softball team is set for a midweek game as the Golden Eagles welcome the Jaguars of South Alabama to Hattiesburg. The match-up is slated for Wednesday, March 22 at 6:00 p.m.
Fans can show their business cards at the gate to purchase a $1 ticket apart of the Worker's Perk Wednesday special. The game is also Bingo Night, fans can pick up a bingo card at the entrance and for every bingo a fan gets they receive a prize.
Southern Miss enters the week with a 13-14 overall record.
In the circle, collectively the Black and Gold has a 2.46 ERA with 89 runs on 180 hits. Kim Crowson, 1.55 ERA, has allowed 23 runs on 60 hits and 38 strikeouts. Jillian Johnson, 2.72 ERA has allowed 31 runs on 59 hits and 25 strikeouts.
South Alabama comes to Hattiesburg with a 19-8 overall record.
For the Jaguars in the circle, the staff has a 1.77 ERA with 58 runs on 135 hits. Devin Brown is leading with a 1.20 ERA, allowing 17 runs on 55 hits in 93.1 innings of work. Destin Vicknair, 2.18 ERA has allowed 30 runs on 67 hits in 67.1 innings.
Southern Miss is 2-1 against members of the Sun Belt Conference this season. The Golden Eagles have two wins over Louisiana-Lafayette and a loss to Troy most recently.
The two teams have met five common opponents, McNeese State, Jacksonville State, Stephen F. Austin, Alabama State and UAB. Southern Miss is 6-5 against those teams, South Alabama is 4-2.
The Jaguars are currently leading the Golden Eagles 11-5-1 in the all-time series.
Last season the two teams met twice in a home-and-home series. South Alabama claimed both victories, 10-2 and 5-1. This season the teams continue the home-and-home series; Southern Miss travels to Mobile in April.
