
Softball Falls to Troy in Road Contest

TROY, Ala. - Southern Miss softball fell to 13-11 on the season after falling to Troy 2-0 on Wednesday, March 15 at the Troy Softball Complex.
Southern Miss and Troy exchanged scoreless innings until the bottom of the seventh when Troy knocked a two-out, two-run homer over the center field wall ending the game.
Offensively, the Golden Eagles had six hits on the night. Tori Dew went 3-for-3 in the game including a double; just her second time this season with three or more hits in a game. Lauren Holifield, Bailey Stokes, and Chase Nelson all knocked singles in the game.
In the circle, Kim Crowson (5-4) got the nod for her tenth start on the season. Crowson went the distance, only allowing two runs on eight hits with five strikeouts.
Defensively, the Black and Gold have held their opponents to three or less runs in five of the last six games.
Southern Miss will host its first conference series of the season as the Techsters of Louisiana Tech visit Hattiesburg March 18-19. Saturday's doubleheader will be played at 1 and 3 p.m., and Sunday's finale is set to begin at 1 p.m.
