Men's and Women's Tennis Spring Season Opener

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss Men’s and Women’s Tennis teams are set to open up the spring season at home this weekend at the Southern Miss Tennis Facility.
The men’s team opens up its spring season a weekend after inclement weather forced home matches to be canceled and now plays host to Florida A&M at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 26th. Friday’s match against the Rattlers is the first of three matches for the men.
The Golden Eagles also play host to Jackson State at 10 a.m. and Alcorn at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Jackson State travels for the second weekend in a row after losing two matches to Louisiana-Lafayette, 7-0 and 6-1. Alcorn also travels to Hattiesburg coming off a six-match losing streak. The Braves have faced Lamar, Louisiana-Lafayette and New Orleans, all teams on the Golden Eagles schedule this season.
The men’s team will host one more match before hitting the road to face New Orleans, Lamar and University Texas – Rio Grande Valley.
The women’s team will also entertain Jackson State for their season opener Saturday at 11 a.m. The Lady Tigers fell in their season opener to Louisiana-Lafayette 4-1.
The home match opens up the Golden Eagles season before they travel to Florida for their two away matches. The team faces Florida Gulf Coast and USF before returning home.
