Southern Miss Matches Up with Middle Tennessee Thursday Night

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss Lady Eagle basketball team (11-8, 3-4) will face the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders (11-7, 6-1) on Thursday night at 6 p.m.
The Lady Eagles own a 5-3 all-time record against the Blue Raiders and Southern Miss has come out on top in every meeting at Reed Green Coliseum.
Middle Tennessee comes to Hattiesburg with players at the top of C-USA in multiple categories. Senior Ty Petty leads in free-throw percentage (90.8) and minutes per game (38.44). Petty is fourth in assists per game (5) and eighth in points per game (16.1). Sophomore Alex Johnson is second in points per game (19.4), field-goal percentage (.496) and free throws made (102).
"Middle Tennessee is very good," said head coach Joye Lee-McNelis. "They're a great team led by Ty Petty, Alex Johnson and Abbey Sissom. Those three players are an unbelievable trifecta. They're as good as anyone in our league. We've got to play with a little better focus and we've got to finish plays. If it's on offense or defense, we must finish the play. That's what we've focused on this week. The great thing about this week is we've had our practice guys back. They've made life more competitive for us because they're physical and bigger. We're better prepared because of them."
There will be pizza for the first 200 Southern Miss Students in attendance and the first 250 fans will receive Rally Towels that are replicas of the Reed Green Coliseum floor.
